Re: Google Drive versus Microsoft Office
I have been asked to provide you with my opinion on whether our organization should continue using Microsoft Office or upgrade to Google Drive. Despite some initial drawbacks we would face by switching products, I believe our company would ultimately become more efficient if we were to upgrade to Google Drive.
Change has become an inevitable part of business as a result of advances in technology. These advances make even the most simple tasks easier and more convenient. Luckily, our generation has been surrounded by technology from a very young age and we are already accustomed to this way of life which gives Google Drive an advantage over Microsoft. The ease of sharing documents as well as making changes while the file is opened simultaneously with other people increases productivity and efficiency. There is less time wasted reviewing documents to see what information was changed and by who. There is also the security in knowing your work is constantly always saved with Google Drive compared to Microsoft which has the potential of losing all of your work due to an unexpected crash or reboot. Additional training may be required for the older generation who may not be as familiar with the system; however, there are many people who are familiar with it and can assist their coworkers with learning process.
One of our main goals as part of this organization is to be visionaries and see the bigger picture. Making this change is one way to ensure we are looking at how to stay informed with the current technology and reap the long term benefits of switching. Technology is ubiquitous and will always be improving which allows for us to try new systems and find what works best in supporting our vision.
