After years of restrictions, AT&T will now allow Android smartphone customers to install applications downloaded outside the official Android Market.
The recently launched Samsung Infuse is the first of AT&T's phones capable of installing apps from outside sources, including unofficial app stores or web links, a process called sideloading.
Eventually after some software updates, all AT&T Android smartphones will be capable of sideloading, according to AT&T.
"Over the next few weeks, we will also roll out this capability to existing devices in our base for which an upgrade is possible," an AT&T spokesman said.

Apple's founder reportedly sent a terse response to a customer who complained that the iPhone and iPad are being used to track gadget owners. Apple has been catching international heat since two researchers revealed a secret file that apparently collects data about where iPhone and iPad users go and stores it on those devices and on computers they're synced with.
That data, which is collected via cell phone towers, is not shared with Apple, according to the researchers. Public officials have criticized the company, however, for keeping this data in an unencrypted file.
The Wall Street Journal on Monday reported that iPhones collect this sort of location information even when location services are turned off.
Despite numerous media requests for comment, Apple has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.

The phone runs Google's Android operating system and will be exclusively available on T-Mobile in the United States. It will be released sometime this summer, according to a written release from the company.
Prices have not been announced.
The Sensation includes the HTC Watch video feature, an app that provides access to a library of recent movies and television shows. The app's technology lets users begin watching a video without having to wait for the entire file to download, according to HTC.
The feature also lets users buy or rent videos and play them across multiple HTC devices.

1. I think a podcast is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication.
2. Podcasting attracts people who want the ability to choose their own content (much like using the Internet), instead of the TV and radio model of broadcast where you tune in and select from one of the programs playing.
3. I have no experience creating podcasts.
4. Tools that can help you create a podcast is a microphone, possibly itunes and version of audacity or you can just record on your own computers camera if youd prefer a video.
5. I would create a podcast for a news article

Google plans to create 20 special channels on its YouTube site, and will spend $100 million to create original programming to populate them.

Like Netflix announced last month, Google wants to create its own streaming video programs, however, according to the WSJ sources, the company will create low-cost programming designed specifically for the web and YouTube, and support the shows with advertising.
The sources said this will be a "major overhaul" to YouTube, which already has a lucrative advertising system in place.

It was unclear when Google would begin spending the money to create the new programs, but the source said that Google has visited top Hollywood talent agencies in search of ideas, and will probably end up making deals with production companies and directors to produce the content

With its latest software update for Apple TV, Apple is now offering easy streaming of MLB and NBA games directly through its $100 media-streaming unit. All you need an active subscription to either service, and you can have unlimited access to every baseball and basketball game through your Apple TV, subject to local blackout rules, of course.
MLB.TV streaming had previously been available for Roku and PlayStation 3, but built-in Apple TV functionality brings an ease of use and integration previously unseen.
There are two subscription models for MLB.TV, $100 a year for standard and $120 for the premium offering (which boasts home and away broadcasts, in-game DVR capability, and different camera options).
NBA League Pass has also been available for online streaming and directly mobile apps for Android and iOS, and the Apple TV bundle comes in two sizes: a $65 option if you pick seven teams to watch, as well as $100 for unlimited streaming

Aptly named Tobii Technology -- spelled with not one, but two "i's" -- unveiled the world's first eye-controlled laptop at CeBIT Tuesday.

Developed with computer manufacturer Lenovo, the laptop uses Tobii's eye-tracking technology to enhance interaction at a glance. Eyeing points on the screen releases information from icons and gadgets, zooms pictures and maps, switches between open windows, and browses email and documents. The Tobii technology also comes with an energy-saving green feature: The screen automatically brightens from auto-dim when a user first looks at it.

On the laptop, however, eye control is limited to a few simple tasks that, up until now, have been hand controlled -- or for some quadriplegics with specially fitted keyboards, controlled by mouth with a joystick-type device.

In this image, Henrik Eskilsson, the CEO of Tobii Technology, controls the computer with his gaze.

A smartphone from LG, which has a large 4.3-inch touchscreen is capable of displaying three-dimensional images without the need for special glasses. A pair of cameras on the back allows users to take 3-D photographs and videos.
LG is hoping its groundbreaking phone, with the hottest entertainment-focused technology on the market, will ride the 3-D wave being pushed by Hollywood, TV networks and other creators of media content.
The method LG uses to accomplish this effect is called "switchable barrier," which is similar to how Nintendo's 3DS can do 3-D without requiring the player to wear glasses.
LG showed the phone, called the Optimus 3D, this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The company didn't provide a release date or price, though spokespeople have said it will be affordable.
